Retrofit Reader B is a universal outdoor and indoor reader designed for integration with the UniFi Access system via the UniFi Retrofit Hub. It supports modern authentication methods including NFC cards and key fobs, Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, as well as mobile unlocking via Bluetooth 4.1. Thanks to the OSDP v2 communication protocol, it ensures secure and encrypted data transmission.
The reader features a durable construction made of polycarbonate and aluminum alloy with IP55 rating, allowing installation outdoors even in extreme temperatures from -30 to +50 °C. Compact dimensions of 117 × 45 × 13.3 mm and weight of only 82 g facilitate mounting on a wall or standard electrical box.
Compatibility and Connection
The reader is designed exclusively for use with the UniFi Retrofit Hub and does not support connection to third-party access control systems. Connection is implemented using RS-485 interface utilizing existing cabling, which significantly reduces modernization costs. Daisy-chain connection allows installation of two readers per door without the need for additional cables.
Advanced Security
Retrofit Reader B meets the requirements of NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) and uses the secure OSDP version 2 protocol for encrypted communication. Support for a wide range of NFC technologies including MIFARE DESFire ensures compatibility with modern security standards.
Management and Configuration
The reader is managed through the UniFi Access application, which enables centralized configuration, monitoring and access rights management. The current software version can be verified at unifi.ui.com. A physical button is available for factory reset.
