DC-powered hub for Retrofit access systems with support for up to two doors and local storage of NFC credentials.
UniFi Access Retrofit Hub is designed to modernize existing access systems without the need for complete infrastructure replacement. It supports connection of Wiegand and OSDP readers including proprietary UniFi Retrofit Reader and enables entry and exit control for up to 2 doors independently. The hub stores NFC credentials locally, ensuring full functionality even during network outages or offline mode.
The device offers DC power supply 12/24 V with the option to connect a backup 12V SLA battery via Retrofit PSU 12V for continuous operation during power outages. The hub is controlled through the UniFi Access application, where you can set up unlock schedules or temporary unlocking. You can define times when doors remain automatically unlocked, for example during business hours, without user interaction, or temporarily unlock doors on demand for a short time. Administrators can also remotely unlock doors connected to the Retrofit Hub in the UniFi Access application.
Ensure that the Retrofit Hub is running version 1.4.7.0 or newer.
Compatibility and Installation
The hub automatically detects and pairs UniFi Retrofit Reader after physical connection and power-on. To daisy-chain a second reader on the same door, you need to run the Discover Reader function in the UniFi Access application. Third-party Wiegand readers are supported, but daisy-chaining is only possible with UniFi Retrofit Reader.
The Retrofit Hub only supports UniFi Retrofit Reader or third-party Wiegand readers. Third-party OSDP readers are not supported.
Recommended Maximum Cable Lengths
For UA-Retrofit-Reader (250 mA): 18 AWG cable up to 152.4 m.
For UA-Lock-Electric (400 mA): 18 AWG up to 100 m, 20 AWG up to 66 m.
For UA-Lock-Magnetic-540kg (500 mA): 18 AWG up to 80 m, 20 AWG up to 51 m.
For UA-Lock-Magnetic-270kg (800 mA): 18 AWG up to 46 m, 20 AWG up to 30 m.
For other locks (1 A): 18 AWG up to 36 m, 20 AWG up to 24 m.
NFC Card Management
One NFC card can be used across multiple Retrofit Hubs if the readers are configured with the same format. When changing the card format in the Access application or on a third-party Wiegand platform, all NFC cards must be re-registered, otherwise door unlocking will fail.
Pairing UniFi Protect Camera with Retrofit Hub
To monitor door activity using a UniFi Protect camera, go to Devices > Hubs > select UniFi Retrofit Hub > Overview > Location > select door > Paired Devices.
